We are very happy to present our latest recordings for the CD “Zumaya in Europa” K'a'ach. The recordings will take place from 25. until 27. Julio 2022 in Nuremberg/ Germany.
The focus is on the work of the 1680 Mexican City-born composer Manuel de Sumaya (or in another spelling Zumaya).
Sumaya, whose music influences from the Renaissance, as in the Baroque, wrote numerous lamentations, Motetes, Magnificat, Miserere and Villancicos. He also composed with El Rodrigo (1708), El Zeleuco (1710) y Le Partenope (1711) the first Mexican operas.
The CD is also dedicated to the works of Hernando Franco, Gaspar Fernández, Arcangelo Corelli and Marin Marais.

Manuel u Sumaya o Manuel de Zumaya (Ciudad de México, 1679 — Oaxaca, 1755)
The project arose from the diploma thesis “The musical diary of Manuel de Zumaya” the Mexican flutist Leah Rabinovich, who lives in Nuremberg. The recordings were directed by the Swiss star flutist Maurice Steger.
The recordings of the Mexican soprano Patricia Trujano Granados, who lives in Vienna, will be sung.
