We are very happy about our latest recordings for the CD “Zumaya in Europa” to announce. The recordings are from 25. until 27. July 2022 in Nuremberg/ Germany.
The focus is on the work of 1680 Mexico City-born composer Manuel de Sumaya (or in other spelling Zumaya).
Have fun, whose music influences from the Renaissance, like the baroque had, wrote numerous laments, motets, Magnificat, Miserere und Villancicos. He also composed with Rodrigo (1708), the Zeleucus (1710) and The Partenope (1711) the first Mexican operas.
The CD is also dedicated to the works of Hernando Franco, Gaspar Fernandez, Arcangelo Corelli and Marin Marais.

Manual of Sumaya The Manuel de Zumaya (Mexico City, 1679 — Oaxaca, 1755)
The project arose from the diploma thesis “The musical diary of Manuel de Zumaya” the Nuremberg-based Mexican flutist Leah Rabinovich. The Swiss star flautist Maurice Steger was in charge of the recordings.
The recordings are sung by Vienna-based Mexican soprano Patricia Trujano Granados.
