Franz Schubert

In between 1814 and the last year of his life, Franz Schubert composed six cycles of Latin masses. Mass in B-flat major D 324 was composed in November 1815 and it is of the short type, but this one in particular has an unusually large orchestral force with oboes, fagots, trumpets and timpani and, although only in the Kyrie, horns and trombones. It is a work composed for soloists, choir and orchestra.
Legend has it that Beethoven and Schubert played here

The Grinzing parish church was financed and built between 1417 y 1426 for twelve families, probably winegrowers. This saved the inhabitants of Grinzing the walk to the Heiligenstadt parish church during the week, which was now only visited on Sundays.
A special treasure is the organ of the Grinzing parish church: until 1829 There was a positive baroque parapet in the church with 4 records, in which, according to local tradition, Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert played several times. Another curious fact is that the funeral of the composer Gustav Mahler was held in this Church.
